Leonard Friedman, Professor of Health Policy and Management and MHA Programs Director, spoke at a HPM event, "Health Sector Leadership Competencies for an Unknowable Future."  Preparation of health sector leaders is based on satisfying a set of competencies based on environmental assumptions of how the world works today. Given the pace with which internal and external healthcare environments are changing, are the competencies that are appropriate today the ones that make the most sense for a world that is yet unknown?

Melissa Goldstein Speaks at Conference on Innovations in Workplace and Community Wellness

Associate Professor Melissa Goldstein spoke at a conference on Innovations in Workplace and Community Wellness: A New Era on Thursday, April 6 at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. The conference was sponsored jointly by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American College of Preventive Medicine and Pfizer. Goldstein’s talk focused on privacy and ethics issues on a panel on Improving Health through Genetics.

Erin Brantley Presents at National Conference on Tobacco or Health

Senior Research Associate Erin Brantley presented “Linking Data to Uncover Medicaid’s Role in Cessation” at the National Conference on Tobacco or Health in Austin, Texas, on March 22. The study is coauthored by Senior Research Scientist Erika Steinmetz, Lead Research Scientist Brian Bruen and Professor Leighton Ku. The presentation was part of a panel on the Tobacco Use Supplement to the Current Population Survey.

Katie Horton and Naomi Seiler Present at National League of Cities’ Annual Conference

Research Professor Katie Horton and Associate Research Professor Naomi Seiler presented at the National League of Cities’ annual conference in Washington, DC. Horton participated in a panel on “Public Health Partnerships” on March 11 and Seiler presented on “The Affordable Care Act: Preparing for Change” on March 14.
